Financial Review (6:00-6:30):

· Mitch Steinberg – Treasury Report. – 1262.00

v Need to open up a new bank account because of bank charges. Need to put Bruce on the documents as the president of FOO. Bruce recommended Bank of ABQ and one other for a free checking account. We have 50 up to date members and paid. We have 135 members that are not paid and up to date.

Old Business:

Merchandise Update

· Eric has two boxes of t-shirts. Bruce wanted to promote the shirts with bike stores. Bruce suggested that we work with Café Press for made to order t-shirts. Mitch has a lot of socks.

v Can work with the company – Precision – to produce more caps for sale.

v Jerseys – has been designed and we need sponsorship,

§ Comcast, Spotlight, Bike Works, Jeff…. Duane said he would give a couple hundred dollars of gift cards.

§ Price of the Jersey would be $50 – $60.

§ The sponsorship is where we get money out of it, but not much on the price.

Facebook

· Put up Facebook page to promote FOO and to network FOO among Facebook.

Trail Advocacy:

· Promoted trail maintenance of Copper Trail, this Saturday

· Tunnel trail maintenance available on non-motorized trail. F.S. will leave tools for the maintenance of the trail. It was already designated in 1996 as a non-motorized trail.

F.S. Connection:

· Bruce is working with a new contact that is with the F.S..

New Business:

· Growing Membership:

o Concern over the lack of motivation toward FOO membership.

o Bryan suggested building new trails. Doug talked about how we need people to be involved in the trail work we are doing now before we can plan on tackling a bigger newer project.

o Mary suggested having group rides (fun) to promote more membership, rather than advocacy.

o Bruce suggested volunteering at Dawn Til Dusk to promote FOO.

o Three or five year award thing – thanks for being a supporter of FOO reward.

o Bryan suggested promoting Bruce as the president to other members of the MB community that are not cross-country.

o Trail Ambassador kit – each member will give them out on the trail when others are broken down. Consist of tube?, patch kit?

· 501c(3) status:

o Missed the March quarter. Shooting for June.

o If we join IMBA and they can help us with the paperwork.

o Or we could do the 501c(3) on our own the risk is not doing the paperwork right.

o The IMBA positives:

§ They will handle the insurance and membership.

§ Gain exposure as a club.

§ There will be benefit with fees for membership.

§ We can separate if we don’t like the way they are doing things.

§ We need lobbyists for the mountain trails.

§ Can receive donations.

§ Being a charter club of IMBA will promote FOO in ABQ.

· Doug called a vote for us being a chartered member club.

· 9 voted in approval.

· 2 objected.

· Bike Park

o Will have beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.

o Go on their website.

· 12 Hour Race

· Need to “follow the money”. Lindsey suggested doing a fun ride. The problems we have are the forest service. Time chip companies want to promote their chips by supporting races.

· A few issues:

§ Need to have a camping area.

§ Takes a lot of time to pull it together.

§ Need to have the 501c(3) before we put together a race because needing a sponsorship.

· BLM/White Mesa

o No word on that.

o Bruce will contact Donna Dugley about the area.

· Closing the Forest

o Promote volunteering as smoke spotters.

· Group Rides

· Mary volunteered to do a co-ed ride.

· No need to do beginner rides because meet-up group. Will work on Intermediate and above. Bruce will send out email to let people know about the trail rides.

· Trail Ratings

· Work with Rich to help do GPS mapping of the trails. Rate the trails.

Misc.

· Still places available for Santa Fe race.

· FOO doesn’t have a USAC club. May look at getting a USAC club recognition, producing a team.

· FOO MTB sign down in FOOville, Pat Crow said he will work on improving it.

§ Will produce info about FOOville, and have a watershed covering, artistic fee for the sign. Sign built around a steel post?, have a plasma cut, built into that would be a wood board, to allow posting like the sign at the top of Indian School.

· Can we put it at the top.

o Jim only approved it as kiosk sign for a trailhead sign.
